Spain Trip Recap

    Hey y'all,

After trips to New MX, Texas, New Jersey, New York, San Fransisco and Napa Valley I didn't this this summer full of travels could be topped but I has only gotten better. This next trip was the most magical and amazing trip I think out of any trip I have taken ever!

What better way to start international travels than getting to the airport 3 hours early... well this has become an ongoing joke in the family because the no matter where we go my step dad can help but make us get there way to early. We flew United (which in my opinion isn't the best but it sufficed) we flew from my hometown -> DC -> Barcelona. Compared to a flight to South Africa this was light work and was nothing to worry about. I watched Don't Worry Darling and Pitch Perfect on the flight and appreciated the movie selection.

Once we landed we slept off the jet lag and finally made it out the beautiful hotel called Primero Primera that was wonderful for our stay and had to most beautiful freshly cooked breakfast each morning. This was the cute character stairs in the hotel.

The next few days were spent with tours of the city and wonderful dinners. We went to the Sagra Familia chapel as well as Park Guel (both were amazing pieces of art).

The final day in BCN was spent at a winery of a friend. I wore this darling dress that didn't wrinkle or anything and was very light weight in the hot sun. The winery was definitely worth a visit and I adored seeing a close friends family's mission and project.

The following days were spent in Costa Brava on the coast with the most amazing views and people I have ever seen in my life. Though I have taken Spanish for 4 years now this really challenged my knowledge and I also didn't have cell service but I had Spanish to English dictionary downloaded but it was still tough. We stayed at Cap Sa Sal and that was quite close to Sa Tuna about a 20 min walk up and down massive hills. I decided to run these hills a few nights and it was full of amazing views and perfect weather.

The final few days were not a family favorite but it was well worth seeing in the Pyrenees mountains. The treck to get there was about 7 hours and while Europe's cars are probably more eco-friendly the small nature doesn't fly when you are a party of 5. The apartment/condo we stayed in was in this adorable village that reminded me of a Christmas village in the summer. Once again I would go train running every night and I would run over to the next town and take a halfway break by this massive old cathedral. The views from there were amazing and made the running of hills worth it. But on the first day we traveled up to a ski lifts parking lot and took a trail on mountain bikes and up in the parking lot is where we met a bunch of tame horses just rooming with cows. Quite odd coming from the USA because you would not let your horse roam with no end in the mountains here in the USA. But the ride with the bikes was just short of 40 km so quite far but we did stop for an wonderful lunch at this old farmers house that serves 4 courses on the side of the mountain.
The final day to our mountain adventure was spent canyoning where you are roped into a harness and you have to jump into cliff and many other activities. To say the least it was an adventure and in the USA would not have happened because it was quite dangerous and a lawsuit waiting to happen. But that did make it all the more special because I couldn't have don't it at home and it got my adrenaline pumping. And the last few hours were spent at the national park looking around at lakes and waterfalls.

We broke up the final trip home by stoping at Monserrat which is an amazing old historical church and we just happened to go while mass was going on, while I am not catholic it was beautiful to see the acoustics of the singers and the surrounding mountain the church is built into.

We made it back to BCN in time to go to sleep and wake up bright and early to catch our flight home.
Little did we now the international flying would not be our problem the problem would be making it back into our hometown because of delays in flights. But we made it home and I did come home to a ton of packages which is so exciting...
