Workouts of the Week
Hey y'all,
I have been working out consistently for about 3 to 4 years and I think I have a pretty good idea on what works for my body and what keeps me fit for swimming and track. But as much as think I know what works I am obviously not a professional but I have grown up with parents that have degrees in sports medicine. So they have showed me how to stay fit in a healthy and stable way.
The biggest part to fitness is the mentality behind it. It is true that you shouldn't train to look different you should train to feel different. The best part about it is you have your whole life to figure out what makes you feel good and confident.
My personal favorite workouts are running and strength functionality training. I have used the nike training app for 2 years and I have figured out the whiteboard workouts that set you up in the gym for success. But I have recently tried the Peloton strength workouts and they are quite tough if you use the app and do the workouts that pertain to your strength level.
My current split in a perfect world is...
Mondays: I hit arms and back
Tuesday: I hit legs
Wednesday: full body & run/bike
Thursday: shoulders and back (I like to double hit back to make sure my upper body stays fit and strong to prevent injury swimming so much)
Friday: full body & run
Saturday: whatever I feel most comfortable hitting most likely legs and glutes
Sunday: REST
If this workout routine doesn't end up happening perfectly and if something goes wrong or I feel like I am over-training I try to take extra rest because this past year I did stress fractured my tibia so I know that I have to keep my perfectly stretched and recovered in between runs and especially weight training.
Here are a few of my absolute favorite nike whiteboard workouts that I have done on repeat for the past 2 year; I never get bored because it is so fun to see my body's ability to grow and be able to lift heavier.
XOXO, Lexi Jo
