Carry-on ONLY!
Hey y'all,
Imagine a week and a half trip into a foreign country with a maximum space of 22" x 14" x 9". There have been a few key things that I have learned from my many weekend and week long trips that will be key to successfully packing for my July Spain trip.
My first tip is packing cubes. As much as I think small boxes of fabric is stupid but they truly do help a ton.
The ones you can see here get stuck and refuse to close sometimes.
I own these as well and they work perfectly and I find that they compact things more efficiently which is very important. Before my trip I plan to grab these.
The next tip is that limit your undergarment packing. All you need is one nude bra, since its summer I always bring nipple covers, a few sports bras for the gym, neutral underwear, and I have recently added boobie tape. For me this will all fit into one small small packing cube.
For shoes, they take up the most space in a small suitcase so you have to be cautious what is a good move to pack. The "always" shoes I'm my case I believe are a pair of flip flops for the shower, a pair of formal sandals, tennis shoes if your a gym girl, and a pair of walking around shoes if needed for your destination. Here are my favorites:
Some purchases I would love to make to keep this trip hassle free with my carry-on are: a e-reader or kindle to keep me from packing multiple books and making my bag heavier. Travel size shampoo and conditioner and compact refillable travel containers. Also one of the hardest things to remember is traveling carry on means you have to compact your toothpaste . I would recommend 2 travel toothpastes because someone in your party is bound to forget theirs or you may run out.
The decision between a soft vs hard covered suitcase is a tough one but personally hard cover works better for me. I find it is easier to zip at the end of the trip especially because I feel like I add more things into my suitcase over the course of the trip. Also, the two sided opening allows me to fit more packing cubes and items instead of one opening which makes me more prone to just shoving stuff.
Finally some odd necessities you may not think of is a fork and spoon combo for emergency, mini nail scissors, pain meds, tide-to-go stick, and a bunch of alcohol wipes for the plane because it is a nasty place.
